We can’t wait to see you at our venues to share with you an exciting lineup of productions and programs. Now more than ever, the health and safety of all audiences, artists, and staff is the highest priority for The Old Globe. We will continue to monitor and follow health guidelines from State of California and San Diego County public health officials. As governmental guidance about COVID-19 evolves, we will update this page, so please check back often.
By entering our campus and our venues, you are attesting that you are not experiencing any coronavirus-like symptoms, and that to your knowledge you have not been exposed to COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
In alignment with California and San Diego health guidelines, The Old Globe has implemented the following policies to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our audiences, artists, and staff.
According to the CDC and current California state guidelines, patrons and guests who want to be mask-free must self-attest that they are fully vaccinated. A person is considered fully vaccinated greater than or equal to two weeks after completion of a two-dose mRNA series vaccine or single dose of Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine.
Any individual who is not fully vaccinated will still be required to wear a mask. Masks must cover both your nose and mouth. Gaiters, bandanas, and coverings with exhalation vents are not permitted. A face shield will still require a face mask. For the safety of everyone, unvaccinated guests unable to wear proper face masks will not be admitted onto our plaza or into our venues.
If You Forget Your Mask
While we ask that all unvaccinated patrons bring their own masks, we have a limited supply of complimentary disposable masks for anyone who forgets to bring their own, or for anyone whose facial covering does not meet our guidelines. See above for additional mask specifications.
Seating in Our Three Theatre Venues and on Our Plaza:
Following state government reports (https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy), The Old Globe and its venues, being under 5,000 audience members, will observe the following guidelines: attendees will not be required to socially distance; venues will be seated to capacity; guests can attend with or without vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test; and mask rules will follow the guidelines above.
Seating for our free events is general admission and on a first-come, first-served basis, at the discretion of house management. Patrons at paid events will have assigned seats based on the seats selected at the time of purchase.
For our AXIS event Juneteenth Celebration on June 19 on our plaza: Though this event is free, tickets are required. Please contact our Ticket Services Department at (619) 234-5623, Tickets@TheOldGlobe.org, or our Box Office in Balboa Park at 1363 Old Globe Way.
Following state government guidelines, guests are not required to socially distance on our plaza or in our venues.
If You Are Feeling Ill:
Please stay home if you are sick or have any coronavirus-like symptoms; if you have been in contact with someone known to be or suspected to have been infected with COVID-19 within the last 10 days; or if you are subject to a quarantine or isolation order. For ticket exchange or return options, please contact our Ticket Office at (619) 234-5623 or Tickets@TheOldGlobe.org.
The Old Globe is cleaning surfaces on our plaza and in restrooms frequently. Additional restrooms on our plaza will be open to prevent crowding in those areas. Hand-washing stations are available on our plaza. We recommend washing your hands frequently during your visit and avoid touching your face.
Lady Carolyn’s Pub is serving beverages and food. Menus are posted in front of the Pub, and signs with QR codes are also available to scan to view the menu on your mobile device. Drinks are allowed on our plaza and in our venues, while food is only allowed on our plaza.
If You Feel Uncomfortable Once You Arrive
