The Old Globe’s Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio is a four-week program for rising 9th to 12th graders and recent high school graduates. It develops and cultivates their artistic voices through storytelling and the creation of original material inspired by deep personal connections to Shakespeare.

Through a faculty-guided process centered on the theatrical disciplines of acting, movement, music composition, and writing, the Studio ensemble identified ideas rich with personal meaning and develops them for further exploration. They then incorporated non-Shakespearean material, such as music, lyrics, and poetry of their own. The play’s poignant themes find their way into this work through a process that is entirely collaborative.

The final presentation at The Old Globe will combine scenes from Shakespeare’s The Winter's Tale with original material generated by the students.
