Celebrate World Music Day

The Old Globe's Copley Plaza in Balboa Park

Join the Center for World Music and The Old Globe for free festivities, featuring San Diego-based Choro Sotaque playing lively Brazilian jazz. The members are Stefanie Schmitz, clarinet/saxophone; Joe Amato, 7-string guitar; Gabriel Arce, cavaquinho/bandolim; and Halysson da Silva, percussion.

4:30–5:30 p.m. | Free Workshop

Get hands on with Brazilian music through rhythm, song, dance, and drums with Stefanie Schmitz and Marisa Serrano. Instruments provided by the Center for World Music. No experience necessary and all ages welcome!

5:30–6:45 p.m. | Free Concert

Let you heart stir with the intricate melodies and vibrant beats of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a lively intrumental performance with Choro Sotaque.

The workshop and concert will both be held at the beautiful Copley Plaza, directly in front of The Old Globe in Balboa Park. Lady Carolyn’s Pub will be featuring a full bar and selection of tasty treats for purchase. For more details, visit centerforworldmusic.org.
