Custodian (part-time)

The Old Globe in San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park seeks a highly motivated part-time custodian to work in facilities and on grounds, cleaning and providing general maintenance to all areas. Duties include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming hallways, stairs, office spaces, and theatres; emptying trash and garbage containers inside and outside; and cleaning debris and stains from plaza sidewalk.

Experience in cleaning services or maintenance required. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and access and anti-racism work in the theatre. Applicants must be able to complete and clear a background screening. Position scheduled to work 5-hour shifts, five days per week. Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends. The hourly rate is $14.50.

Senior Accountant

The Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park seeks a Senior Accountant for a full-time, benefited position. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance to manage the $30 million annual operating budget for this not-for-profit organization.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for reconciling and analyzing general ledger accounts, bank accounts and investment accounts; producing monthly and annual financial statements; maintaining fixed asset detail; assisting with preparation and monitoring of annual budget; extensive responsibilities for annual audit and tax filings. Ideal candidates will be extremely organized and detail-oriented and have previous accounting experience, preferably at a not-for-profit organization. Payroll Administrator

The Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park seeks a Payroll Administrator for a full-time, benefited position. Duties include compiling and processing both a complex and high-volume automated bi-weekly and weekly payroll, generating reports, data entry, preparing and processing deposits, journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and various other accounting duties.

Ideal candidates will be extremely organized and detail-oriented and have previous payroll experience preferably at a not-for-profit company. Excellent computer and Microsoft Excel skills required. Must have experience in ADP Workforce Now or equivalent payroll software.

Experience processing payroll for Unions a plus. Experience in Financial Edge or equivalent not-for-profit software preferred. Accounts Payable and Payroll Assistant

The Old Globe in San Diego is seeking an Accounts Payable and Payroll Assistant for a full-time position. Position will assist the Accounts Payable Accountant and Payroll Administrator in all processing and reporting duties for Payroll and A/P.

A/P responsibilities include processing invoices, running weekly checks, ensuring that GL accounts are properly allocated, preparing and processing deposits and assisting with various other accounting office duties.

COVID-19 Compliance Officer

The Old Globe Theatre is hiring a full-time temporary COVID-19 Compliance Officer (CCO) to provide COVID-19 safety plan oversight and enforcement to onsite cast and crew. This assignment is expected to last 6 months.

The CCO will facilitate training and education on health and safety with The Old Globe’s casts and crews; oversee, administer, and monitor COVID-related protocols including physical distancing, testing, symptom monitoring, and disinfecting protocols; provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) education, implement policies and procedures related to infection prevention practices including COVID-19 prevention, and be always accessible in the workplace during work hours to proactively engage with cast and crew to ensure they are adhering to COVID-19 safety plan. CCO will also assist in administrative tasks related to COVID-19 compliance and communication.

Applicants must be able to maintain privacy and confidentiality; have strong professional, communication, and interpersonal skills; and be able to take initiative and work independently while following company policies and procedures. House Manager

The Old Globe in beautiful Balboa Park is seeking a House Manager for San Diego’s premier regional theatre. Hours are part-time, Thursday through Friday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings with occasional Monday night events when productions are running. Previous House Management/Front of House experience preferred but not required. Previous customer service experience dealing with the public required. Must have excellent people skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to think and act under pressure. Gift Shop Supervisor (part-time)

The Old Globe in beautiful Balboa Park is looking for a hospitable and attentive person to work part-time in the theatre's Gift Shop. Duties include opening and closing the gift shop, interacting with patrons, cashiering, stocking, and running end of shift reports.

The Gift Shop opens prior to performances and stays open through show intermissions as well as daytime weekend hours. Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends. A typical shift is three and a half to four hours, average weekly hours of 20-25 when in production. Lady Carolyn's Pub Staff (Part-time)

The Old Globe Theatre seeks hourly part-time staff for cashiering, food preparation, and bartending positions. Must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays, as early as 10:00 a.m. or as late as 11:00 p.m. Will work approximately 10-25 hours per week during productions.

Pub Staff must provide world class customer service; be able to work in a fast-paced environment; have accurate cash handling skills; and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and switch tasks when necessary. Food and beverage customer service experience and cash handling experience is required; Bartending experience preferred. Head Electrician, Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre

The Old Globe seeks a skilled and motivated Head Electrician for its arena stage, the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre. The Head Electrician reports to the Lighting Director and is responsible for overseeing and executing the build, installation, operation, and strike of lighting and projection equipment. The Head Electrician will direct and manage assigned crews to execute the design, efficiently achieving the Globe’s high production and safety standards. The Head Electrician is expected to manage equipment and supply needs for their space as well as assist the lighting department in maintaining accurate theatre and show documentation.  

This position is ideal for entertainment electricians with effective leadership and crew management skills. The desired applicant should have extensive knowledge of theatrical lighting skills, safety, and proficiency with industry-related software. Ideal applicants will have demonstrable experience with theatrical lighting systems including operation, maintenance and troubleshooting, as well as and the ability to supervise electricians while working efficiently and effectively under pressure.

The Head Electrician is expected to work independently and as part of a team as a strong collaborator, communicating effectively with production, creative, and administrative staff in delivering technical support for productions and ensuring department success. Required skills include advanced knowledge of theatrical lighting systems; Knowledge and understanding of DMX 512 protocol and equipment; LED and low voltage circuits; computer networking knowledge; ability to read and interpret lighting and scenery plots; experience with programming ETC Gio @5; proficient in Lightwright. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and work at heights up to 30 feet.

Successful applicants will be self-motivated, driven to excel, resourceful, flexible, adept at problem solving, and attentive to details. Head Sound Technician, Old Globe Theatre

The Old Globe seeks a highly skilled and experienced theatrical sound engineer to fill its open Head Sound Technician in The Old Globe Theatre. The Head Sound Technician is responsible for: the installation, operation, and maintenance of sound equipment; supervising technicians and running crews; and the documentation of show and theatre information.

The position requires demonstrated skill at Broadway style line mixing using state of the art equipment. Competitive candidates will have several years live mixing experience for theatres; experience as an A2; and experience installing sound systems for live theatre. Desired skills and knowledge include: effective leadership and supervision of crews; deep knowledge of theatrical sound systems including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; and practical knowledge of leading edge software. A short list of equipment, software, and techniques that applicants are expected to have had experience with: DigiCo SD Consoles with T software, ClearCom (HelixNet and FreeSpeakII), Software: QLab, Meyer Compass, DigiCo Studio Software, Vectorworks, Microsoft Office, OmniGraffle, and Shure Wireless Workbench; Power distribution, Wireless frequency coordination, theatrical networking, low voltage electronics, video routing and various camera operations.

This position is ideal for anyone interested in advancing their theatrical sound skillset as well as experience with safety, leadership, and proficiency with industry-related software including Qlab, AudioCore, Studio Manager, and ClearCom. Ideal applicants will have demonstrable experience with theatrical sound systems including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and the ability to supervise technicians while working efficiently and effectively under pressure. Successful applicants should be self-motivated, adept at problem-solving, and attentive to details. Required skills include advanced knowledge of audio terms and practices, signal flow, gain structure, soldering, MacOS, Windows OS, basic computer networking, ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and ability to work at heights up to 30 feet. Head Stage Carpenter/Head Rigger 

The Old Globe seeks a qualified stage carpenter and theatrical rigger to lead stage operations on the Old Globe Theatre stage. The Head Stage Carpenter/Head Rigger shall be employed during rehearsals and performances and whenever scenery is rigged on stage and/or whenever scenery is shifted or flown on stage during technical and dress rehearsals, load in and load outs, and performances in the Old Globe Theatre. The Head Stage Carpenter/Head Rigger will also perform routine maintenance on rigging and equipment which is required to move or fly scenery.”

Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a safe working environment for technicians, performers, and audience members during workcalls, rehearsals, and performances; collaborating with the TDs and Shop Carpenter to plan and oversee the load-in of scenery and rigging, automation, and mechanical effects; supervising and operating moving scenery during rehearsals and performances, maintaining scenery and effects during the run of show; and maintaining the permanent rigging systems, in order to achieve the highest standards of technical and artistic excellence.

Experience in practical theatrical rigging (counterweight systems, motorized rigging and fixed systems), installation and operation of theatrical automation (turntables, deck tracks, lifts and hoists), extensive theatrical carpentry, and management of backstage crews required.

Applicants must have knowledge of workplace safety practices, rigging calculations, theatrical mechanical/automation system assembly and operation and have the ability to read and interpret lighting and scenery plans, and a rigorous understanding of backstage flow, culture and processes. Must be able to routinely lift more than 50lbs., work at heights up to 50 feet.

Experience with ECTP (theatre) certification, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office suite, rope access/ fall arrest training, OSHA 10, and programming with Creative Conners’ “SpikeMark” preferred.

A flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and extended hours is required. Strong customer service and interpersonal communications skills with artists, technicians and managers is essential. Deep and broad technical knowledge of the craft and allied arts is desired.

Must be able to pass applicable background check. The Head Carpenter/ Head Rigger must be present at all times that the Old Globe Theatre stage is in use. This is a house-staff, IATSE Local 122 Union position. Base rate is $27.65 per hour. If the selected candidate is not a member of the Union, they will be required to join. Production Assistants

The Old Globe Theatre is accepting applications from interested candidates for ongoing Production Assistant positions.  Production Assistants work in a variety of capacities at the Old Globe as part of the stage management department. Applicants should have experience backstage and in rehearsal rooms. Essential skills for this position include attention to detail, strong organizational skills, a willingness to work within a team, and a desire to learn.

Ideal candidates will be interested in advancing skills toward a career in stage management, and will enjoy working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment to help support and facilitate the development of professional theatre productions. These are temporary positions which are filled on an ongoing, show-by-show basis. Hours can range from part-time to full-time, 5 to 6 days per week including overtime hours. Pay range is $17.00 to $17.50 per hour.

Lighting Assistant (part-time)

The Old Globe Theatre seeks qualified applicants for its part-time Lighting Assistant position. Responsibilities include data entry, paperwork distribution, supplies management, purchasing, and hands-on electrics activities. Applicants should possess excellent organizational skills, high attention-to-detail and a customer service approach to problem solving. The position requires basic knowledge of theatrical terminology and stage lighting practices.

The ideal candidate will possess: a minimum of 1-year hands-on experience in theatrical or entertainment lighting, a valid driver’s license, and flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Experience with Lightwright is a plus.

Position will be filled midsummer, 2021.

Position is scheduled for part-time weekly hours averaging under 30 hours per week, 5-10 hour shifts. Pay rate is $19 per hour plus comp ticket benefits.

Public Safety Team

The Old Globe seeks a part-time Public Safety Team Member for its Theatre complex in Balboa Park. As a member of the Public Safety Team, the successful candidate will help to maintain safety and security of patrons and staff on The Old Globe’s plaza, theatres, offices, and other company property. The ideal applicant possesses excellent customer service skills and the ability to be proactive and detail-oriented.

Position pays $16.00/hour plus ticket privileges. Must be available to work afternoons through late evening hours including weekends; average schedule is 15-20 hours per week. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Must be able to pass applicable background check.

Ticket Services Representative

The Old Globe, one of San Diego's most celebrated professional theatres, seeks ticket representatives with excellent customer service experience and strong telephone and computer skills to work in our Ticket Office located in beautiful Balboa Park. 

Ticket Services Representative provide customer service to Globe patrons by assisting patrons with ticket and subscription orders over the phone and in person at the walk-up window. Ticket reps will work on show nights distributing will call and assisting patrons at the window. Ticket reps will become knowledgeable in the history of the Globe and current product offerings in order to best assist patrons.

Ticket Services Representatives are part-time positions working 16-30 hours per week. Office hours are 11:30am-8:15pm, daily; applicants must be available nights and weekends and be able to complete and clear a background screening. Training pay rate starts at $15.25/hour with increases earned up to $16.25/hour following full training, plus ticket privileges.
