Community Voices: Comedy Edition is a workshop hosted by Katie H. where participants/audiences can explore a different comedic writing genre each week!
More of a gathering than a show or a class, Word Up! is a digital opportunity for community members to connect with each other and participate in a new performing-art medium each week through a live-streamed collaboration.
Past Programming
Every Thursday, we’ll post a new page featuring an original design for costumes, sets, or props from past Globe shows. Along the way, you’ll be treated to design insight from artisans who brought these ideas to life. Color them in however you want (creativity welcome!), and post on your social media and tag @theoldglobe and #globecoloringbook. The following Tuesday, we’ll post some of our favorites, along with the designer’s original rendering and a photo of the final design onstage.
On Book: The Old Globe’s Shakespeare Reading Group is a free online group offering a chance to explore Shakespeare’s plays with other audience members as well as Globe artists and actors.
Globe to Go offers distance learning lesson plans FREE to educators, classroom teachers, and homeschool parents looking for introductory theatre and Shakespeare lessons to try at home.

Playwrights Unstuck allows you to be a fly on the wall as we check in with Globe-commissioned local playwrights to discuss their play’s development!
For many San Diegans, their ability to understand and appreciate the wonders of the Bard during our Summer Shakespeare Festival has increased exponentially since they joined us for Thinking Shakespeare Live!
Thinking Shakespeare Live: Sonnets! is a half-hour, “social-distance” version of Thinking Shakespeare Live! which will introduce the sonnets and then delve into one masterpiece of the form, exploring its language and how it works, and how it relates to Shakespeare’s work for the stage.
When the curtain falls, where do the artists go? Act Breaks reveals the answer. This special series offers exclusive video content providing an intimate connection with your favorite Old Globe theatre makers. Act Breaks checks in with actors, writers, directors, and artisans to see what they are up to during this Great Intermission. Each artist will share what’s foremost in their hearts and minds: a song, a message about why theatre matters, or just a hello to their friends and supporters at the Globe.
Shows may close, but the fun lives on! Flashbacks videos brings you songs and scenes from the Globe productions you have loved, with an introduction by a member of the cast or creative team, who will give you backstage stories and fond memories of their time with the show. Jump back in time with us and relive all the excitement from the Globe’s stages.

Soap It Up brings you the talented students in The Old Globe and University of San Diego Shiley Graduate Theatre Program as they give you Bard-inspired ideas that will take the perfect amount of time while you clean up.

Behind the Curtain is a free online series of workshops offering a chance to explore the magic of creating a theatrical production.
