Follow the Bard Tour
This interactive tour is specially designed for middle and high school student groups wishing to delve more deeply into the details of Shakespeare’s plays and characters. Our knowledgeable guides offer a fantastic way for students to explore Shakespeare’s times and test their knowledge of his plays. Students explore various locations* on The Old Globe complex to discover a variety of hidden props and costumes that relate to specific plays. The tour gives students an exciting and amazingly fun opportunity to show off their knowledge of the Bard and to learn much more. A comprehensive activity packet with Shakespeare information, a quiz and game, posters, and more is provided to each teacher for follow-up activities in the classroom. Students receive their own posters and participate in a drawing for additional gifts.

Behind the Scenes Tour
Discover how the magic is created with a Behind the Scenes tour of The Old Globe including a backstage look at the Globe’s theatres.*
Learn how the spectacular costumes are built; how the Scene Shop can make simple plywood look like fine drawing room paneling or an old barn; and how they built impressive sets to look like a stone castle, the “Grinch” storybook scenes by Dr. Seuss, or a remote island surrounded by water. Learn about the simulated food, statues, puppets and elaborate, fanciful headgear created by the Properties Department, and see their miniature bug orchestra in a glass case backstage. In addition, learn something informative about each of the current plays running, whether it’s a classic or, perhaps, a contemporary Tony Award-winning play or a new musical bound for Broadway.
