As a non-profit arts organization serving the community, we rely on the generosity of volunteers. We need volunteers for our Administrative Offices (Marketing, Development, Business, Education, etc.), supporting our Literary Committee, in the Costume Shop, the Helen Edison Gift Shop, Lady Carolyn's Pub, as backstage tour Docents, Patron Services Ambassadors and Ushers for our shows, and members of our auxiliary volunteer group, Globe Guilders.
In return for their contribution of time, volunteers are given the opportunity to see productions in the Old Globe Theatre, Cassius Carter Centre Stage and Lowell Davies Festival Theatre free of charge before they are open to the general public.
Although the benefits provided in return vary depending upon the number of hours devoted to The Old Globe, most volunteers will receive invitations for themselves and a guest to attend Final Dress Rehearsals for all Old Globe shows, including Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, the perennial Old Globe Theatre holiday favorite. As a Volunteer Usher, you will be guaranteed to see all the shows at the Old Globe, Carter and Festival Theatres every season. All Volunteers receive discounts at the Helen Edison Gift Shop and Lady Carolyn's Pub.
In addition to seeing some of the best theatrical shows in San Diego for free and the satisfaction of helping support one of the top regional theatres in the country, you also will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most dedicated and talented theatre professionals in the world.
